Pay For Performance Marketing FAQ

1. What is PFP?

Pay for performance is a unique marketing campaign structure where Facet researches, strategizes, executes, and measures marketing campaigns on behalf of partners and clients.

Based on the performance of the marketing campaigns, Facet earns a marketing sales commission.

2. Why is PFP better than alternatives?

By partnering with Facet, our partners and clients are benefited by our equal opportunity win and lose system. With pay for performance, our marketing team can execute marketing campaigns and treat each client’s business as their own since they have a vested interest in success.

3. How does PFP work?

Before onboarding with Facet, we take a look at the previous 6 months of performance for each marketing channel which Facet will manage. Based on the average sales performance of those channels, a baseline is set whereby the performance must surpass before the performance pay kicks in.

All performance pay percent commissions are negotiated per channel before the retainer is started.

4. Why does PFP work?

Since Facet treats each client’s business as its own, Facet leverages internal applications, processes, talent, and expertise to create opportunities within the client’s marketplace.

Facet’s data-driven approach to keeping track of campaign performance allows us to implement, grow, and prune marketing campaigns based on customized key performance indicators for each campaign.

5. What goes in the 3-month cycle?

Our standard practice for marketing campaigns is to give them a minimum lifetime of 3 months before determining if they are a success or failure. Often times, the initial investment for a new campaign can require significant resources, and so it takes some time before the campaign matures.

Like many great farmers, we try not to pick our fruits before they are ripe.

6. How do you get to know my business?

At Facet, we’ve been developing an audit process that gives us a multifaceted view of your products and services, key value proposition, marketing history, internal resources, and general market research.

Like any great relationship, we also ask of our partners to understand that we will get to know them better with time.

7. Does Facet offer anything else besides PFP?

Yes—we also perform straight-up marketing on a retainer basis. However, this service is often more expensive, and we regret to say that our customers are generally more satisfied when they know we have some skin in the game too.

8. Does PFP save me money?

Yes—pay for performance marketing campaigns can save you on the initial investment required to kickoff marketing campaigns.

More importantly, the pay for performance model ensures that timely investments of the appropriate funds are continually made into the correct campaigns on an ongoing basis.

Much more valuable than money well spent is money well spent at just the right time.

9. Can I opt out of PFP further down the line?

Yes—we have a number of options we can discuss when you’d like to graduate out of a pay for performance plan—please contact us to review more details.
